Police Officer Commits Suicide At Duty Post With Own Riffle

Lance Corporal Alhassan Asare who went on duty at about 5:45 pm at Dukes Petroleum Fuel station on Monday, August 19, 2019, was found seated dead in a plastic chair with severe gunshots wounds on his head, bloodstains on his body and on the floor… and his service rifle in between his thighs pointing towards his head.

Information from Akim Swedru in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region, reports to Confirm Radio that, a police officer on duty has shot himself with his own rifle.

A policeman stationed at Akim Swedru in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region has reportedly committed what looks like suicide at his duty post with his own weapon.

Lance Corporal Alhassan Asare who went on duty at about 5:45 pm at Dukes Petroleum Fuel station on Monday, August 19, 2019, was found seated dead in a plastic chair with severe gunshots wounds on his head, bloodstains on his body and on the floor… and his service rifle in between his thighs pointing towards his head.

Though police are investigating the matter, it is suspected that the uniformed man may have ended his life by pulling the trigger over hidden reasons.

According to a report sighted by Confirm Radio newsmen, a colleague police officer visited the said fuel station at about 5:40 am on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, and spotted his lifeless body on the plastic chair.

The duty police officer Number. 46688 L/Cpl. Alhassan Asare was sitting dead in a plastic chair on the storey building with his rifle in between his thighs. The District Commander DSP/Mr. Sebastian Maya was duly informed and a follow-up visit was made to the scene, the report revealed.

Three empty gun shells were found lying on the floor beside him. Meanwhile, the Divisional Commander and the Divisional Crime Officer have since been informed about the unfortunate incident.
